Do You Stink?
God wrote in his word this passage to Judah as they were betraying Him and going into sin:
Isaiah 3:24
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
God’s people had been provided all their hearts desire but became unthankful for all His blessings and forgot to give Him the glory for all they had. Instead of sacrificing to Him and worshiping him, they turned to other gods. Instead of being a sweet savor they began to stink before God. God hates sin. Because of their rebellious sin against God, He said they STINK before Him. God wants us to worship Him and follow His word.
He promised us in Ezekiel 20:41
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
If we follow Him by following His word we will smell sweet to God. He will make us righteous before the lost in this world. How can we smell good to God instead of Stink?
God’s word tells us in 2 Corinthians 2:15:
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
It is not us that smell good to God. It is His son Jesus Christ. If we accept Him as our Saviour, we smell good to God. If we reject Him, we Stink! If we are His children, but do the things of this world, we leave a bad odor before God. What do you smell like today?
