Should Christians get involved in political efforts
As we face this election season I have seen some evangelical Christian pastors discourage involvement in the process stating “Christians have much more important things to be doing at spreading the gospel than to spend their time in this worldly effort. They should simply trust God seeing His Plans will be done no matter what.”
I agree that God is sovereign and His plans will be done, but He uses man to accomplish His will. He has done that throughout history by raising up men and women to lead His people.
Some scripture to refer to is as follows:
Psalm 12:8 “The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.”
Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
I believe our main focus should be on spreading the gospel and supporting laws and those that will do the things God’s Word says is the right way. God does hold us responsible for our choices. Let me leave you with this thought.
Ezekiel 3:19 “Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”
Yes God is in control and establishes kingdoms and tears down kingdoms to meet His plans but that does not change our responsibility to do right by doing our part and that is voting for those that would support God’s Word and promote the spread of the gospel in our time.
Now get out there and do your God-given responsibility and VOTE! After that, accept the results as the will of God for our nations where that is good or bad. God is in control!!
